I own an HP Pavilion 15-au170tx equipped with i5 7200U, GTX 940MX, 8GB 2400 Mhz RAM, and a 256 GB SSD. I purchased it two years ago but recently encountered problems where the CPU reaches maximum usage and GPU activity stays below 50-60%, sometimes even dropping to near zero, especially during games. I've tried various games like GTA 5, Crysis 3, and PUBG Mobile, which also show lag. I've reinstalled drivers several times and even used Windows 10 via the media creator tool. Benchmarks indicate both CPU and GPU are functioning normally, with GPU at 100% and scores aligning with its capabilities. I'm unsure what to do and would appreciate some guidance on resolving this issue. Thank you.

The CPU and GPU temperatures vary depending on the gameplay state. During idle, they typically remain lower compared to active usage.

Idle temperatures hover near 40-50°C, yet gaming GPU stays at 70-80°C while CPU remains around 98°C. These readings are high, but they functioned okay before.

When thermal throttling occurs, the processor runs at a minimal frequency, and its utilization stays consistently high.

Your device is experiencing severe overheating and may shut down if not maintained. The CPU will likely become a performance bottleneck in demanding applications, despite its 15W dual-core design. What are your expectations?

It might help to lower the CPU's core voltage offset and reduce clock speed, potentially resolving the issue.

The 5mV won't make a difference. Even 100mV isn't enough when the whole setup is covered in dust and reacting on its own.

He’s always been the one who messes things up, especially now that he’s on stage.

It's very likely. The second statement is somewhat accurate. It functions smoothly at playable speeds initially.
