Calculate the utilization by combining both threads of each core and treat them as one. Assess how many threads exceed 50% usage—physical cores plus virtuals. Sum the results across all configurations. If SMT is disabled in BIOS, cores would utilize over 85%, indicating bottlenecks. Upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600 could improve performance by around $130.
I'm struggling right now, but the next upgrade is likely to be a CPU and a new case. Would adding an SMT help improve performance?
SMT is already active, which is why AMD offers this as a substitute for Hyperthreading.
