Usage and temperatures for I7-9700K in CS:GO
Hey everyone, I’ve seen my i7-9700k getting a lot of work lately—especially when I’m playing CS:GO. Usually the CPU usage stays around 25-40%, and temperatures hover between 57-63°C. I’m using a Noctua NH-D15 cooler, but sometimes it spikes up to 80% or even 95% while temps climb to about 82°C. It seems the fans kick in really hard during those moments. I’ve noticed this happens more often on certain maps and not others. I don’t have any background processes running while gaming, and other games don’t seem to affect the CPU much. I’m getting around 250-300 FPS depending on the settings, which is still decent but definitely pushing the CPU hard. I’m wondering if this is normal or if there’s something I should do about it. Any suggestions? Thanks!
CS-Go demands a lot of CPU power, especially for high frame rates. The complexity of the map, number of players, weapons, and gunfights all contribute to higher CPU load. This increased demand raises temperatures, which in turn boosts fan speeds. While the GPU plays a smaller role, the CPU handles the majority of the processing. As long as your system can manage it, temperatures should remain acceptable, especially with AMD hardware.
You didn't specify your OC if you had one. Your 5GHz frequency seems typical.
