Hello, as a laptop user your situation might differ from this. If stuttering appears only during gaming while everything works normally otherwise, it’s unlikely to be a TPM problem. To test, run LatencyMon and examine the highest interrupt, process latency, ISR and DPC values. Red indicates TPM-related issues. New laptops often let you disable TPM in BIOS settings. For Windows 10 simply try it; for Windows 11 ensure Windows Hello is off (it’s easy). You can still set a PIN later if privacy concerns arise. Graphs in LatencyMon should turn red when TPM causes problems. When TPM is off, the graph should show green or orange—roughly half the size. If your PC runs smoothly without stutters and audio issues disappear during recording via Xbox Game Bar or OBS, it might not be TPM-related. It could still help to give it a try.

For the change to work, disable fTPM in BIOS. If you were my case, I'd restart LatencyMon for new data, then turn off fTPM, and repeat. Lower stats during the same time suggest fTPM was the cause.

I've already tested that, plus I updated the BIOS for my motherboard. Someone recommended disabling SpreadSpectrum, but it didn't help. Still no improvement. Also tried latencymon on different platforms—desktop, browser, games. The screenshots you mentioned aren't from games, and the third one was me playing R6 Siege. FTPM was turned off. I installed the newest Nvidia drivers (version 516.59), updated chipset drivers, and enabled maximum performance power mode. By the way, it seems the issue isn't stuttering—it's just that the games aren't running smoothly, with a 240 Hz frame rate feeling like 60-75 Hz, which is really annoying.

Eventually, after a while, I realized I was tired of constant troubleshooting. I wanted a reliable machine that could last, not spend a fortune on something that might fail soon.

I own an i5 12500 with a 12th gen Intel core, 32GB RAM, and a fast NVMe SSD. Several major sites say it’s one of the best consumer SSDs, but I plan to keep it for the long term. I had a regular 840 250GB drive for nearly ten years, and I’m considering reusing my 3070 GPU. My goal is to build a solid gaming PC with 1440p refresh rates—using an SSD, a few HDDs, and a 1TB drive.

I thought my SSD was bad, but after reading more, I found it’s DRAMless, which actually improved speed when it got full. It cleared up some issues and boosted benchmarks. Still, the frustration lingers from months of repeated failures.

yeah, it does suck since I did like ryzen for the amount of cores for the price I paid, and, realistically, could play all I wanted to on even a 5600x and b550 but didn't want to risk being hit by an unsolvable ftpm bug. I honestly thing it's ftpm mixed with a faulty cpu since it's done the same lagging stuttering crap on multiple new mobos, new ram, new OS installs and even a new psu. If AMD won't give me too much hassle, I'll try doing an RMA on the 3700x. If it's possible for you, I'd try either replacing the mobo if possible, PSU, check ram out, it could be a faulty cpu possibly. Was just truly and utterly being frustrating having this happen for months with no answers and those of us still affected by ftpm even after the new bios update venders released in may (some even talked about LOWER performance after the update, which I noticed too) were basically met with crickets and tumbleweeds when we said "hey, we're still having problems this didn't work" I'm not even too picky on performance as long as games were smooth, I swear I was happier with my pc when I went into it just knowing in my mind, hey, this thing will get you 1080p 60hz high settings or ultra on older games lol. It just truly sucks spending a lot on a 1440p high specced gaming pc to have it stutter and lag with no recourse. I hope you can get some answers yourself. I got my new psu, case, ram, nvme, and aftermarket 120mm tower cooler in so far, waiting on the mobo and cpu and then I can build the new i5 12500 build. Later on I'm probably going to build an el cheapo i3 10100 secondary build, many say it's as good as the i7 7700 and can play most modern things I'm interested in well. I'd wager even a 10th gen i5 will be fine this whole console gen, and, encoding for streaming can be put on the GPU these days anyway. While I'm losing a couple threads with the new i5, I'm gaining a bunch of IPC, and peace of mind which is everything lol. I mostly play older stuff or well optimized casual co op stuff. Have a backlog big enough to last a lifetime as-is, and, quite frankly really don't like how the gaming industry has gone but that's a whole other can of worms lol. but a genuine well wishes to you for fixing your pc, my bad back and neck got tired of being hunched over on the floor troubleshooting this ailing pc and I'm throwing in the towel lol

The updated i5 12500 offers noticeable improvements over the previous 3700x model, especially in gaming performance. I replaced all parts except the CPU and it continued functioning well, suggesting the earlier CPU had intermittent failures. Despite never running high temperatures or being overclocked, one unexpected shutdown occurred months ago around the time AMD addressed ftpm concerns.

I kept my original 3070 GPU, paired with a few 7200rpm HDDs and a 960GB Crucial SSD (though I suspected it was struggling). The upgrade included an ASRock 670 motherboard, 32GB RAM at 16GB x 2, and a 3467MHz RAM module. I chose the 12th generation Intel processor instead of the older w11 to avoid compatibility issues, and also selected Intel 12th gen chips since they’re less prone to ftpm problems.

For my gaming and general use, a 5600X and B550 would have sufficed, but I opted for extra reliability. I installed a 1TB 7200rpm Seagate drive, a Toshiba 2TB 7200rpm SSD, and a 4TB UltraStar 7200rpm drive. My storage setup runs on an SK Hynix P41 2TB Platinum NVMe Gen 4 SSD with 7000MHz speeds.

I used a Thermaltake Core V21 case, a 1440p monitor at 144Hz, and a 650W Seasonic PSU. I decided to skip the E-core Intel 12th gen for better stability and went with Intel 12th generation chips instead.

For storage, I kept a regular 840GB Samsung SSD as my primary drive. While NVMe drives are slightly faster in everyday tasks, they don’t make a huge difference here. I also used a DDR4 motherboard because I’m not convinced about the benefits of DDR5 at this point.

I’ve been using the same system for nearly a decade, mainly running OS on the P41 drive. I’m planning to request an RMA from AMD for the 3700x model someday. In the meantime, I’m hoping for trouble-free gaming and performance with this build, especially with the CPU handling demanding titles without issues.

I’m also considering replacing my old 1TB Seagate SSD with a larger capacity drive eventually, but for now, my current setup is stable and well-optimized.
