In summary, the last few weeks have been really tough, after lots of checks. My main worry is the motherboard—my experience suggests it might be the issue. I own a powerful system with high specs: 1440p gaming, 3700x, 32GB RAM at 3000MHz, a 3070 GPU, two SATA SSDs, and four HDDs. The monitor is a 27-inch 1440p display running at 144Hz. Even before upgrading the monitors, games performed well, even at 1080p. Recently, installing new Windows made things worse, triggering frequent crashes and BSODs. The BIOS update helped a bit but only temporarily. RAM tests passed, and drives were fine. I’ve tried older GPUs and found similar issues. The CPU also stutters in games, especially with DLSS enabled. I’m seriously thinking about replacing the motherboard or power supply, maybe building a second machine with my old RX 480 and Ryzen 7 to test things out. It’s frustrating not having modern components for troubleshooting. I’ve ruled out most hardware problems except possibly the CPU or motherboard. The PSU is solid, and cooling hasn’t been an issue. I’m hoping to find a more affordable solution soon.

Drives are functioning normally in Sentinel. The BIOS update introduced instability—frequent BSODs, crashes, and hangs. Temperatures are within normal ranges. System stability in AIDA64 confirmed CPU, FPU, cache, and memory all passed after about 33 minutes of testing; a shorter test was suggested. Framerate spikes align with FPS drops visible in the attached image. If my Samsung 840 250gb SSD were failing, would it trigger errors or something else? Some forums mention bad OS drives causing issues, but I haven’t received any reports. Latest AMD chipset drivers are now installed. I attempted to access the newest BIOS, but it triggered repeated crashes, sometimes before the system even started. The computer frequently crashed, froze, or hung, suggesting the motherboard is failing after thorough checks on other parts. I'm using the second most recent BIOS since the latest one broke stability. I rolled back to the older version because the new one caused problems.
I receive 200mbps down, 20-25mbps upload, varying by time of day and local network traffic. On slower connections or older hardware, performance can dip slightly. Previously, even with a powerful system, lag and stutter occurred in certain games. This issue started a few months ago and has gradually worsened, causing random lag, stutter, and frame drops. It’s slowing down drastically in benchmarks, barely reaching 500MB/s. Even my older Samsung SSD still works fine. The speed should be much higher, around 500MB/s or more. I installed it on an i5 7300HQ laptop a few years back, but it only reached 6MB—far below expectations.
To check if the unstable motherboard was the main cause, I tried running the SSD on my gaming laptop. It still lagged at 6MB for a while, then jumped to 8MB and then suddenly spiked to 80MB. Only about 991GB were written, which isn’t impressive. I’m really disappointed with this purchase.
Years ago, someone claimed it was 96-layer flash—probably just marketing hype. I guess I had to face the storage risks, especially from a reputable brand. I also tested Fortnite on another benchmarked SSD, but it still showed lag spikes and inconsistent performance. In afterburner, frame times varied wildly.
