(URGENT) Unable to upgrade Windows 10 during a full reset
I’m trying to find a solution that fits his needs. My USB drive seems to work without issues on most systems, so I’ll focus on that. Any information you can provide about the motherboard or specific settings would help. The watermark install isn’t an option since there’s no product key, and I want to avoid it.
Several responses didn’t really help. I mentioned I don’t have money for a product key, but they keep asking for it to get the Windows “full version.” Even though I already have my own USB install media, they still suggest using an ISO file, which isn’t needed since I can create a bootable from the ISO myself. I plan to try the ISO repair and BIOS updates, and I’ll update this thread once I’ve done those steps.
The install media is designed for a single licensed machine. Modern keys are stored directly on the mainboard rather than in external files. Upgrading an already activated system won’t work again on that machine. If your friend’s setup hasn’t been activated, the upgrade should succeed and you’ll get a free Windows copy.
