I have several methods to enhance a 1080p video to 4K quality. Initially, I explored some AI-powered platforms that seemed interesting. However, the cost for a short clip quickly became too high. The reliability of the source's confidence score also made me hesitate. I checked various software tools and found Topaz and DaVinci to be the top choices. I attempted Topaz but realized it requires payment. Davinci appeared more affordable, offering free use with no restrictions or watermarks. Its definition of no restrictions is somewhat unclear. The 4K upscale feature in Davinci adds a watermark. I also tried an open-source application mainly for animation, which was effective but required my GPU to be fully utilized, taking around 20 hours. This took too long for me. My options now are limited. I’m hoping the original creator will respond, though it’s been three years since the project began, so realistic expectations are in order.

I'm assuming the video you referenced is the one you typically use as your background. I ran the Topaz Labs Video AI through it, and it can vary—sometimes effective, other times not. However, it generally improves grainy or jagged pixels, particularly around particles. In short, it definitely enhanced the visuals.

With an RTX 4090, you could also open the video on YouTube and turn on RTX Video Super Resolution. This feature leverages your GPU’s tensor cores to upscale video in real time via Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or VLC Media Player. I can’t personally test its performance against Topaz Labs, but based on similar results, it should perform well.

To configure it, open the Nvidia Control Panel and select Adjust video image settings. You’ll find an option for RTX video enhancement, which automatically upscales all video within Chrome or Edge.

As a backup, I’m open to upscaling the footage myself and sharing it with you if you’re comfortable. Unfortunately, most AI tools require payment or restrictions, so I can’t guarantee access without payment. Hope this clarifies things, and take care.

The goal of increasing the video resolution to 4K is to enhance clarity and detail for your viewing experience. If you're using a device with a suitable display, opting for a player with strong upscaling capabilities will help. However, the effectiveness may be limited if the content lacks sufficient detail or if the display doesn't fully utilize the higher resolution.

Correct, it's the video above.
I'm trying to use it as a Windows live wallpaper, which unfortunately means the player option won't work.
Having you handle it is a lot, but if you ever have time and are bored, it would really be appreciated. Audio isn't necessary if it affects rendering. I can supply cloud storage once it's available.
Right now I'm using it just as a wallpaper; my main problem is the blurriness around the MSI logo, though I can live with the rest. I'm not expecting miracles, but clearer edges would be a big help.
The free solution before my GPU overheats worked for a while—it produced a few frames with sharper images—but after about an hour and 20 frames, performance dropped too much to continue.

It's actually quite simple. Since my PC is almost five years old, rendering will take roughly half a day. If you need a cloud service to receive the file, I'll begin the process today.
