Upload shared documents to the common directory
I'm discussing two network drives on my computer at home. Recently, I discovered that dragging files into shared folders doesn't automatically update them for everyone. It seems the issue is with each drive having its own folder due to Windows problems. Are there any overlooked steps (Windows 10) or do I need to add them manually? I believe it should be possible to handle this regularly using tasks or a CMD script, but I'd prefer not to set up an automated solution.
AFAIK shared folders enabled access for other PCs on the same network. Files stay in the local folder until copied elsewhere. For more advanced syncing, consider specialized tools. One approach is writing a script that automatically copies new files. Another method uses dedicated sync/backup programs. I prefer Resilio Sync; its free tier restricts scheduling and data options. It lets you define which folders sync and who can read or write. The software checks logs to decide which files should be deleted when multiple devices are connected.
The issue lies in how file permissions are handled across different devices. When moving files, the permission settings don't update properly, especially on separate devices like phones and laptops that aren't linked to your computer account. On three different devices, new files aren't appearing despite the shared folder being accessible to everyone. The problem isn't syncing—it's about permission synchronization. If I had time and funds, I'd consider expanding storage to 100TB. For now, the "sharing" options don't work as intended.
