Planning a fresh PC build The CPU choice will be AMD Ryzen 5 5600x or INTEL Core i5-11600K. Both offer similar performance, so the decision hinges on the motherboard I can purchase within my budget. This setup is mainly for gaming. Based on my funds, I considered these options: - For INTEL Core i5-11600K - MSI Z590-A PRO, Gigabyte Z590 D (or another under $200) - AMD Ryzen 5 5600x - ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus, ASRock B550M Steel Legend, ASRock B550 Extreme4, MSI MAG B550M Mortar, Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE V2, Asus Prime X570

I don't have a choice, I'll just provide the answer.
You can use any graphics card that fits your needs.

Currently, the GPU I have (while prices settle) is my previous AMD R9 200

Most Z590 boards seem a bit expensive and don’t provide much value, so B550 looks better. You can also upgrade to a stronger CPU later with the AM4 socket if you prefer. The TUF B550 is a solid choice overall, though I personally don’t like the yellow highlights.

11600K available every day of the week. Should it be excessive, switch to 11400 and B560—it still surpasses a 3600 easily. They aren't trying to beat each other; they're just different options.

I didn’t focus on their performance differences; I assumed the Z590 was pricier with few useful options, while the B550 offers nearly everything needed for a beginner setup. I should have looked at B550 and B560 instead, but he didn’t mention any B560 boards he was thinking about.

Just noticed the wrong CPU—it's not 3600, it's actually 5600x.

Nothing useful remains when it isn't paired with B550.

Choose the 11600k and opt for a B560 board to maintain lower costs. AM4 offers a solid upgrade route, but you’d miss out on significant performance gains now, and by then better options will likely appear that justify the investment. The ASUS Strix B560 works well with this chip, especially if you’re not aiming for overclocking, for roughly $175. If you prefer AMD, the ASRock B550 PG Velocita is a great pick—packed with features for around $170 and built to last at a reasonable price.

Unfortunately, the Asus Strix B560 costs 298 USD in my region, while the ASRock B550 PG is priced at 270 USD—both seem quite steep compared to my budget.
