Upgrading your GPU caused the RAM to fail.
I finally acquired a 6800xt, but that’s not the best part. I replaced my old 5700xt with a new Red Devil 6800xt, turned it on and it crashed immediately—rebooted several times, hit a blue screen, then tried again. After checking the RAM, I swapped the ports but it didn’t help. I tested different RAM sticks in each port, and it worked. Updated BIOS and drivers, tried again—still no improvement. The machine boots with just an 8GB stick but struggles at 90% load. I’m stuck and need advice. While gaming, the GPU draws over 120 watts and then shuts down when demand drops. I’m wondering if adding more RAM would help? Any suggestions would be appreciated right now!
Consider using a PCIe port for the GPU that is either Gen4 or Gen3, rather than letting it auto-select. Test both options to observe the results. Also, check if XMP/DOCP settings are active.
Adjust shared memory settings in BIOS. One GPU is 8GB, the other 16GB. Removing the extra 8GB from the new GPU by disconnecting a RAM module might resolve the system issues.
Eight gigabytes of memory worked well a few years back, but in 2022 it's suggested to upgrade to sixteen gigabytes.
A user adjusted the BIOS to GEN 4 PCIE and it worked instantly. The system returned to using 16GB of RAM. Appreciate the suggestions! I can handle mechanical issues, but BIOS remains a vulnerability. Thanks all!
