I understand this might be a bit unusual, but I recently purchased the Corsair SF750, their new compact platinum PSU. I got it after watching some interviews with the designer, who explained that their larger 1500-watt PSUs with digital control are often preferred over non-digital ones because they deliver voltage more quickly and accurately. I chose the smaller size and lighter build instead of a massive power supply for my current setup, but since I'm thinking about upgrading to an ASRock Z370 Pro4, I wondered if some motherboards now handle this better—either by not needing extra power or by digitally managing their power needs so the PSU isn't overburdened. My goal is clean, fast power for my 8700k, which will eventually be upgraded to a 9900K(S) model. I need dedicated PCI-e lanes without compromises like shared connections. I'm looking for motherboards that offer real-time performance, low latency audio/video work, encoding/decoding, live monitoring, and streaming—anything that delivers quickly without gaming or long render times.

The mono manages power digitally. The PSU provides 12V, the Mobo VRM controller receives signals from the CPU/BIOS to deliver 1.2-1.4v to the CPU. The models with superior VRM are the Z390 Extreme on LGA1151, though they're expensive at around $500 and may not justify the cost. The Z390 Master and Z390 Pro are also strong options. All these components come from Gigabyte, which dominates the market for Z390 VRM designs.

More likely it comes down to the power delivery capabilities, component quality, and the type of PSU you pick—especially since premium options like the Gigabyte Z390 Design offer unique features such as USB ports and direct CPU access via PCI-E. I’m curious about how these benefits compare to overclocking-focused boards for low-latency audio/video work with PCI-E devices like RME AIO, UAD2, or an Avermedia capture card.
