Upgrading to 32GB storage
Upgrading to 32GB storage
I’m planning to boost my setup to 32GB RAM and a 2x16 configuration. My current 4x8 Gskill Flare X doesn’t boot properly even after updating the BIOS, especially when running demanding AAA titles like COD where the 16GB limit causes stutters. I also intend to begin video editing soon, so having extra memory will be beneficial. I’m considering the link you shared and need a semi-low-profile model due to my 280mm fans that only fit 40mm or less. The Ballistic kit is 39.17mm, which seems tight. A Corsair Vengeance LPX might work but I can’t find it without the cooling fan. Please suggest suitable options and include full specs in your response.
I believe the Crucial Ballistix set is the top choice. I planned to reference G.Skill's Ripjaws V, but it stands at 42mm tall, and there doesn't appear to be a Corsair Vengeance LPX version for your requirements. It seems your system isn't loading with the 4x8 setup, which is strange unless those two kits are incompatible. Have you tried Safe Boot or turning off MemOK (though I'm uncertain if that's supported on the X570 Hero)? Also, make sure the 1 and 3 DIMM slots function properly when you install one of the kits there.
I've used the 4x8 before; it was quite sensitive and sometimes wouldn't post properly, requiring a reset of CMOS and a restart. I know slots 1/3 function or have been successful in the past. It's well known that Ryzen 3000 doesn't work well with 4x kits at all. I often encountered 0d errors when using 4x. Instead of trying to fix it further, I opted for a 2x16 setup.
I agree with mateyyy, the ballistix are solid dimms. Many online users claim the 3200c16 kits can be reliably overclocked to 3600c16, though I haven’t found solid proof. Crucial says all their RAM is e-die and their manufacturing is very consistent, but I stay doubtful. It could be worth checking out—it might save you some money.
