Actually, I wasn't checking other voltages in HWMonitor; I just looked at the core VID. Could you let me know what voltages to check when raising the VCore setting in the BIOS settings for my motherboard? MB: Gigabyte F2A68HM-S1
Vcore means how much electricity your CPU actually uses. VID is how much power your VRM (power supply) has to give. When you set up an overclock well, both Vcore and VID usually stay within 0.05 volts of each other. This happens thanks to things like LLC and tiny adjustments on the voltage lines. It's not just about matching them perfectly though; you have to tune them so your computer runs smoothly for the operating system. Often, this means lowering the voltage to its lowest safe level rather than raising it unless you are pushing the CPU to extreme limits. I really think you should study the specific overclocking needs of that CPU and check if your motherboard can handle high voltages at all. Some FM2+ boards simply aren't strong enough for much more than a small speed boost.
The Vcore setting matters a lot. But you really need to check if your operating system works well. If everything runs fine without extra power, why would you have to push the voltage higher? You could actually go down instead of up!
I don't think I need to drop down in voltage too much right now. Also, I can't go faster if I keep the same battery level. The system works fine on its own. Where should I start looking to get the best power up for my processor?
