Upgrading the CPU and BIOS for an X570 motherboard
I have a 2019 ASRock X570 Steel Legend and plan to change the CPU from an R7 3700X to a 5700X3D. My skill level is medium, and I've already set up memory, cloned or imaged drives, etc., but I haven't worked with a CPU or updated BIOS before. While the YT videos seem straightforward, I'm a bit worried about damaging the system. On the ASRock website, they provide a supported CPU list for my motherboard. The header in the last column says "Validated BIOS." On the download page, they mention Renoir Ryzen 5000 processors, G-series, Matisse, Renoir, and Vermeer. Does this affect my choice? Please clarify if I need to update my BIOS or install the new CPU first.
1: Your BIOS is at an early stage (version 1.60). For the 5700X3D to function properly, you need a BIOS version of 5.50 or newer.
2: You'll use your 3700X (also known as Matisse) to upgrade the BIOS, then install the 5700X3D onto the motherboard.

Verify your bios settings. If you're using version 5.50 or newer, no changes are required. Install the latest CPU, perform the update, and then install the new CPU. It doesn't apply to your situation.
