You can use cheaper RAM with a maximum of 2133 MHz, or you need to purchase 2400 modules again if you want higher speeds.

Seek the most affordable options available – they should suffice. However, an i5 6400 is already quite slow by today’s standards. Switching to a 7700 or 6700 could be a smart move.

2133MHz is the standard frequency, so any device running at that rate works just fine—it doesn't have to be 2400MHz.
