Upgrading RAM leads to significant performance issues in gaming.
I own a gaming laptop with an Xpg i7 9th gen processor, 1660 ti, and Atlas 157Q. Recently, I visited a tech shop where they replaced the thermal paste and added 8GB RAM. Despite their basic knowledge, the installation didn’t help much. Since then, my games have been suffering from severe stuttering. Even titles that were smooth before now freeze heavily. I’ve tried updating drivers, BIOS, and even used DDU to reinstall the GPU driver, but everything failed. Initially, games ran well but quickly became sluggish. All my efforts—updating RAM, checking connections, flipping RAM slots—didn’t resolve the problem. The GPU was at 100% CPU usage, and performance dropped significantly after the upgrade. I noticed before the RAM upgrade I also experienced lag during normal use, around 70% utilization. After the upgrade, gaming improved but stuttering returned again when I reinstalled RAM in a different slot. I’m really worried about this situation.
