They adjusted the overclock settings for the BCLK or FSB to boost performance. DDR3 typically runs at 800MHz, but increasing these speeds can push it higher, like to around 1GHz.

DDR3-1600 memory operates at 800 MHz. Use CPU-Z to verify your memory performance. The Core i7-920 isn't an Extreme model, so memory dividers are restricted to DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066. https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...l-qpi.html For improved speed, maintain higher BCLK rates. Memory and BCLK are closely connected. These boards perform better with 6-core Xeons such as W3670 or W3680. Fully loaded, they should handle a Xeon at 4500 MHz across all cores. X58 boards are costly, but processors are affordable on eBay.
