Hi there, I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade my old PC. I think it's getting a bit outdated, but I'm not sure. I just got a 1060 with 6GB RAM from a friend and installed it in my current machine that has an Intel P8P67, an i5 2500, and 8GB DDR3. I was thinking about upgrading to a Ryzen 5 2600 with a B450 and 16GB DDR4—seems like a typical budget choice. Would you notice a difference in your games? I don’t have much money, but since I bought the PC in 2011, should I replace my power supply? My PSU is a 650W certified 80+. Should I consider used parts? My GPU isn’t great either. This second-generation i5 offers a noticeable performance boost, though it may struggle to match your GPU, especially with the non-K variant limiting overclocking. It's a Corsair model you're considering, but I'm not sure which one. You're thinking about upgrading to something safer while keeping your old PC for other tasks. Thanks for your messages—I'll definitely switch my CPU now. An I5 9400F sounds better than the 2600, and maybe an I3 9100F would work? Probably not worth it for this chipset. Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to share some additional thoughts since I'm still deciding between the B450 and X570. I plan to upgrade my GPU later, so the PCIe 4 in the X570 might be useful for future compatibility with a GPU that supports it. I could start with a used CPU and upgrade it later if needed to save money. I'm not sure if the AM4 socket will last long, but based on what I've seen, it can be a bit limited for future upgrades.
