Hey everyone, I just set up a gaming PC for work and personal use. It’s lightweight enough for my needs, but I’m looking to upgrade it for smoother performance. In Dead Redemption 2, I’m around 90fps with everything at full settings, and in GTA Online it varies—sometimes 180fps, other times 90. That extra 10fps would be a big plus. Most benchmarks say 1080p is fine, but my experience in 4K isn’t as clear. My friend got a 13.7GHz CPU and scored 20,309; mine is around 14,900–15,000. I’m curious if these numbers hold up for 4K gaming. I hope you can share your thoughts! Thanks in advance.

At 4K resolution you're probably stuck with GPU limitations. That said, a few extra frames won't be much of a gain unless you upgrade your CPU or RAM. Consider pushing your Ryzen overclock settings to check for noticeable improvements. If that doesn't work, the 13900k is likely to offer similar results.

At 4K resolution you'll likely hit GPU limits regardless of CPU choice. The specific processor doesn't matter much; a 7700K should perform similarly at around 4K. 1080p tends to be CPU-intensive, while 1440p usually depends on settings and GPU. A 4090 will be more affected by CPU speed than 4K.

Turn off SMT and observe your score improve. Time Spy non-Extreme usually encounters problems with more than 24 threads, causing performance drops. This doesn't happen in Time Spy Extreme. In most cases, you'll notice only a slight 2-3 FPS change, which is barely perceptible. Switching between them for 4K gaming isn't worth the hassle.

Results from 4K testing are available at the 4:40 point. Upgrading your CPU might help, but it won’t significantly improve 4K frame rates.

Check the comparison carefully and decide if the change makes sense. The review suggests it may not be worth it.

I believe I should keep using my current rig, and I plan to improve my air cooler for a better aio performance, which could help me score more points.

Similar to the 5950X, certain tasks perform better when threads are tied to one CCD. It also enables PBO to enhance those cores further due to increased power and thermal capacity.
