Greetings guys. Im thinking right now for upgrading my gpu and eventually my cpu. I’m currently running an intel 3060 6gb nvidia from 2015 and a ryzen 5 3600. I would like to build a unit for 2k gaming, with my 144 hz monitor, and keep the cpu if possible. A friend of mine says that I should wait for the 5060 to arrive but I believe it won’t be enough to run games like gta vi or expedition 33 in high settings at 2k, I’m more of a 9070 and kind of guy. Thoughts?

What are your full system specs, including make/model/age of the PSU, and what about budget?
Short answer, if nothing else is in need of replacement, a bios update, with a 5700x3d dropped in and a 9070, will get you there for what you want to do.

I think your 550 Corsair gold PSU might need an upgrade, and you should consider a B450 gigabyte motherboard.

What kinds of games do you enjoy? Some, such as sims, strategy and MMO, tend to be constrained by CPU power. Fast-paced games usually rely more on GPU capabilities. Try this simple experiment: run your games, but reduce the resolution and visual effects. This can put extra strain on your graphics card. If your FPS improves, it suggests your CPU is capable of handling a better graphics setup. If your FPS remains unchanged, you're likely more constrained by CPU performance.

850w power supply gold quality, Seasonic focus
9070 or 9070xt model
16gb x2 ram
5700x3d with a cooler containing at least 6 heatpipes or water cooling, 240 aio. These components generate heat because of the 3d cache stacking.
Or Ryzen 5700x without 3d cache but still a solid CPU for 2k
Choice depends on your overall budget.

Warzone, the next GTA Vi, some powerful games and others not so much, possibly Throne and Liberty. A future-proof machine, as much as possible, with a 600-700 GPU budget.
