You're looking for a laptop that fits your workflow as a photographer. The MSI GS60 Ghost Pro seems like a solid choice, but you're considering a Windows 7 desktop for compatibility with Windows 8. There are challenges with installing Windows 7 from a USB drive, and driver issues might be a factor. You're thinking about using a notebook or CD drive as an alternative. TL;DR: Need a laptop without a CD drive to switch from Windows 8 to Windows 7. Let me know if you need more options!

Set up Start 8 or revert to Windows 8, and everything functions just as before.

USB Pendrive Creator http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msus...vd_dwnTool Tool needs an Win 7 Iso. If you already have an win 7 dvd you can create an iso with daemon tools lite. http://www.daemon-tools.cc/ or download one. Now try to boot into the setup. If that works reboot into windows 8 Then you need an second usb drive to format win 8 otherwise the installation will fail due the internal version of 8 is higher then 7. So the setup won't continue. Now lets create another pendrive Download http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gparted...1-i486.iso and http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-u...-as-1-2-3/ Then follow the instructions from the tool. Now you boot into gparted and format the entire. It's pretty much straight format. You select all partions then rightclick and select format. Choose ext4 and hit the apply button. Wait for it to be done then hardreset your pc. Then plug in the win 7 setup usb. Wait for insert bootmedia if it won't start itself. Install win 7 as usual. Additional: If Win 8 won't let you boot from usb go into uefi and disable secureboot, fastboot and enable legacy boot if there's an option for that.

The simplest solution is to use an external CD drive if possible. A nearby PC repair shop should be able to assist you. Explain your issue and request they use their CD drive. You might be able to install Windows 7 via a USB drive, though it could take some time to resolve.

I understand, but he's just starting on the forum and might not realize there are ways to remove the metro interface from Windows 8. This could be a simple fix for his issue, and he can keep the newest operating system since major updates for Windows 7 are coming to an end, while Windows 8 offers better performance.

I’m not suggesting you avoid alternative ideas, but also provide a response to the issue they raised. I’m not aiming to target you personally. It bothers me when individuals overlook the question, assume they already understand everything, and receive answers you’re not aware of or don’t want. I shared a thread earlier where the first line was bolded—what did that result in?

Thank you, but Windows 8 creates a lot of difficulties for my work. I’m aware there are Start is Back options, but some programs I need don’t fully support it. There’s also an issue with my Windows 7 disk—just getting it onto the laptop is the main challenge. I’m concerned about drivers and cleaning up the SSDs, so I’ll try using an external drive. In the worst scenario, I might have to stick with Windows 8. Appreciate all the help!
