Yes, that's generally correct. WiFi 6 is primarily designed for Wi-Fi networks and isn't compatible with fiber connections, which is why you might still use a DSL line.

The internet connection type isn't important. You can switch the gateway to bridge mode or use pass-through mode, turning it into an ONT, then simply connect a router. The problem lies with WiFi's limited range and strength, so a single router might not cover the entire house.
