I used Windows 7 and chose the Tech Preview version. I learned you can upgrade to the Final RTM version for free, but the instructions mention a key. I downloaded the ISO to a zip drive but forgot the key in the notes. Since I’m planning a clean install on my C drive (which already has Windows 10), I’m puzzled—why isn’t anyone asking this question? Did I miss something obvious? I really don’t want to upgrade just for Windows 10! Thanks for your advice.

I'm still relying on the preview, which is genuinely a legitimate version of Windows 10 Pro.

This setup is quite messy with two copies of Windows.old folders. You can perform a clean install now. If you need guidance, let me know!

You're on 10.0.10240.16405, the latest version. I'll proceed with a fresh setup and avoid using the activation key. Let's see how it goes.
