I know this is newbie question, but I want to make sure everything run perfectly,
These are my specs :
CPU : Ryzen 5 3600
Motherboard : rog strix b550a gaming
Ram : 2x8gb Trident z
Gpu : rx 6700xt nitro+
Psu : Corsair rm 850x
My question is, if I want to upgrade my CPU to Ryzen 7 5800X.
Do I need to install certain software or is it just plug and play?
Since my motherboard supports Ryzen gen 5, so bios update is not a problem I think, and I plan to upgrade my ram to 4x8gb sticks, is there any problem with this? Thanks.

Check your BIOS revision first in the CPU compatibility list. Pay close attention in the installation notes to confirm you don’t need to install anything else before reaching the target BIOS. Ensure all overclocking or XMP settings are disabled, returning everything to its default state. Power down, install the new CPU, and verify the system boots correctly. After confirming, return and adjust your XMP and other settings as desired.

Just confirming if the BIOS accommodates the new CPU. For the RAM, setting the xmp to default is necessary before making changes. Agreed ✅

Updating to the latest BIOS is now available; once applied, it will revert to factory defaults, requiring you to adjust at least XMP or similar settings for optimal performance.
Inquire about your CPU cooler—your Ryzen 5800X runs quite hot, and the standard OEM cooler with the 3600 isn’t sufficient, you’ll need a more robust solution.

I continue using the stock cooler, and I have a plan to purchase the Deepcool LT520 or LS520.
