I'm evaluating options for a Ryzen 5 3600 upgrade, including MOBO changes. I'm focusing on mid-range choices and want something practical for light video editing without needing advanced features like PCIe Gen 4. I also need a board that supports modern storage solutions.

Regarding RAM, it's important to match the speed of your new CPU for optimal performance.

For your used i7 Extreme 980X and DX58SO2 MOBO, you can expect to find listings around $100 USD on platforms like eBay.

There are many options available, so what color suits you? The motherboard size matters—do you prefer a compact form factor? You might consider upgrading to a higher-end chip later if needed. For RAM, 250-300 MB should be sufficient; the board likely adds more value than the processor.

I have the Corsair Graphite EAXT configuration, so any model will work. I’ll choose either a Noctua or Corsair H100i V2 based on availability and price. No color preference—I won’t buy a used chip later. 2) I asked about the impact of RAM speed on performance with AMD CPUs after watching a video by Linus. I just want to stay updated. 3) Thanks, that’s more than enough to help cover the upgrade costs.

Which is better, AsRock B450 Steel Legend or MSI B450-A Pro?
