I plan to construct a gaming PC soon. I chose the 8600k and an affordable motherboard, the ASRock Z370 Pro4. I'm considering overclocking the CPU, but I'm unsure which cooler is best. My concern is how much this motherboard can boost the 8600k's performance. Regarding the cooling options, should I opt for the Be quiet Pure Rock or the Pure Rock Slim?

I discovered this video to be a great resource that addresses your query, since the I7-8600K is quite similar to the I7-8700K in terms of overclocking potential. TL;DR – the answer is yes, you can overclock it, but don’t anticipate reaching 5GHz. You’ll likely need to remove the CPU from the motherboard. The key takeaway from the video is that your success depends more on your hardware setup and Intel’s internal thermal design than the motherboard itself.

The more affordable the board, the fewer options you have for overclocking. I opt for the Asrock Killer SLI/AC boards and manage to push my 7700K up to 5ghz.

I'm planning to build a gaming PC soon. I've chosen the 8600k and an affordable motherboard, the ASRock Z370 Pro4. I'm thinking about overclocking the CPU, but I'm unsure which cooler is best. My main question is how much this motherboard can actually overclock the 8600k. Amd, should I opt for the Be quiet Pure Rock or the Pure Rock Slim? That would be okay if you're aiming for extreme overclocks; otherwise, it's fine for normal overclocks. Also, make sure your case has good airflow.
