Upgrading an AB350M GAMING 3 motherboard using a Ryzen 5 processor and Trident Z DDR4 memory
I have an AB350M GAMING 3 mobo with a Ryzen 5 chip and Trident Z DDR4 RAM.
I just flashed to version f7a (different from non-G3 bios number) and was able to get 3200 mhz xmp profile to load to windows. I also bumped the cpu up to 3.75 and left voltage at default. I bumped the RAM voltage up to 1.35 (redundant because of xmp profile? idk).
My questions are:
Should I enable amd cool and quiet? Should I enable SVM Mode? Should I enable SMT mode? Should I leave Downcore Control, and Opache Control on auto? Should I tamper with VCORE SOC if I am using xmp profile?
The thread about Vapour relates to an older Intel chipset. It's unclear how much this affects the current AMD chipsets.
I agree that adjusting most settings manually would be beneficial!
I use Cool and Quiet with SMT auto enabled, SVM is active, and I'll review VCORE SOC.
Since I've increased the overclocked CPU and RAM, I raised the VCORE SOC slightly.
With XMP turned off, I can run the system a bit slower than XMP speed, but it still works fine.
This helpful article explains how XMP can change many settings even though they appear unchanged.
A manual setup is recommended to avoid unintended effects.
It suggests that XMP could potentially overload your RAM.
