Looking for suggestions for your brother's new PC setup. He’s got a Lenovo i5 3330 and GTX 660, running Apex Legends at 720p with smooth 50-60 FPS. At 80% CPU usage and 100% GPU usage, he needs a boost to hit 1080p 60 FPS or more. A 1060 graphics card with 6GB RAM should work well with the i5, but ensure it meets his system requirements for stability.

I just enhanced my younger sibling's computer as well. The price isn't tied to how much money he has. I'd consider a 9100F ($50 at microcenter, 4.2ghz quadcore) with an RX 570. This setup should handle 1080p at 60fps, even for tough games on medium settings.

A GPU upgrade seems like a smarter option here. What about your PSU and budget?

You can find a decent RX 570 at a lower price these days, which should help you reach your desired frame rates. Upgrading to a newer system isn’t worth it unless you need much better performance, since replacing the motherboard, CPU, and RAM would cost a lot. Keep in mind that Ivy Bridge supports DDR3, while today’s platforms use DDR4.

I’ll take a look at that He has a brand new EVGA 500w bronze. For a budget around $120-150, I’ll check the used market to see if it’s available. Will the i5 work well with it?

The specific measurement is clearly defined, though the response highlights that a used model with dimensions like 570/580/470/580 offers a significant improvement over the 660.

The PSU seems quite poor, though it might hold up for now. I’d consider replacing it if feasible.

He purchased it due to EVGA's reputation and affordable price. A superior alternative might exist.

Well brand doesn't always deliver quality, but these models have their merits. MWE bronze V2 450w, MWE white V2 450w, pure power 11/11 cm 400w, system power 9 400/w, cx450 are solid budget options if you're willing to swap them out. Otherwise, they should handle the job for your setup.
