I’m not sure what to say because I don’t have details about your motherboard or CPU. It seems the system might be outdated for Vista, and many people are complaining about it. Installing SP1 brings it closer to Windows 7, making it look a bit better.

It seems Microsoft either really cares about me or something went wrong. I’m managing to get updates for Vista these days, which is good. Right now I’m preparing a VM based on Vista so I can test it out later. Since the last time I tried was a year ago, I’m pretty sure it’s not working. For you, the question is whether your hardware can handle Vista—especially since you mentioned a 5th generation Intel processor. Generally, anything from the 2nd or 3rd generation lacks Vista support.

It seems they likely had to shut down the system fairly recently, which disrupted my schedule since I wasn’t aware that VMWare Workstation 16 ended support for Vista. Ugh, that’s frustrating!
