Upgraded system with high-performance processor.
Hi everyone! I just completed assembling my PC and when it first turned on, the CPU began overheating. I’m looking for advice on what might be causing this issue. My friend mentioned it could be related to the motherboard, CPU, or the heat sink. Any suggestions or insights would be really helpful. Thanks for your support! it began to smoke immediately after turning on the PC, maybe a few seconds later
Remove the processor and check for any harm to the board or CPU. Disconnect all power clearly.
I notice mainly discoloration and burn marks on the underside of the CPU and in the socket. If it was indeed the CPU or socket that was overheating, look for any unusual signs such as scratches, bent pins, etc. Also inspect the socket area on the motherboard for similar issues like burn marks or discoloration.
You also have an AIO, which means there might have been a pump issue or something from the pump itself or the wires. A short could have caused the smoke.
