Hello, I just completed a full upgrade and now have a 4070 Ti Super with a Ryzen 9 5900X. The system includes 32GB DDR4 RAM, 700W power supply, new M.2 drives, and a brand-new motherboard. I’m playing at 1440p at 165Hz, using GeForce Experience optimized settings for Ultra. My FPS drops from around 144 to 90, sometimes even lower like 40s or 80s in solo play. I also use DLSS, but it helps less when playing alone. Occasionally, games like Ready or Not drop significantly in FPS when there are many players online—especially in FXIV with lots of people. I suspect my PC might struggle with these titles unless everything is perfectly tuned. The temps are normal, so maybe the issue lies in settings like HDR or other configurations? I’m not sure what’s causing it and would appreciate any advice.

Consider running a Cinebench test on your CPU and a Heaven benchmark on your GPU, then check how they stack up against online scores. If your numbers match what others report, it could mean the games aren't optimized well enough. If they differ, your hardware might need some tweaks. Noting that my 4070 can reach around 160fps at 1080p suggests it's capable, but performance depends on the specific titles.

Where can I find the top-tier PC? What motherboard should I consider? Which RAM options and speeds are best? What cooling solution fits? The latest motherboard BIOS? The newest chipset drivers from AMD? I checked GPU usage too. The 5900X performs similarly to the 5600X for gaming, but it's a lower-end CPU if I'm aiming for high frame rates—it might be limiting performance, just like with my 6950XT.

Upgrade to a 5800x3d version? It shouldn't be expensive when you factor in the benefits from selling the 5900x. You can also check out some reviews—you'll notice that in certain games FPS often stays low even with different graphics cards. Sometimes it's better to limit FPS closer to the 1% threshold.

It seems the problem might start with an HDD concern, followed by overheating, and possibly other issues. We require additional details about your computer, just as @191x7 mentioned.

Most recent games rely heavily on the CPU and FFXIV gains from X3D cache on 5800X3D/7800X3D, so you won’t notice big FPS drops in crowded spaces. Performance on your 5900X can be slightly boosted with good memory settings, but achieving stability requires careful testing—uncertain if you’re ready to invest the time.

ASUS Prime B550 -plus paired with G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series DDR4 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) at 3200, ASUS TUF Gaming LC II CPU cooler. My GPU is the ASUS TUF 4070Ti Super. I'm unsure if my BIOS is current; checking would be best. Performance depends on BIOS and chipset—would updating both fix issues? If so, is the DDR4 RAM limiting anything?

I was testing today and saw my temperature drop from a steady 100 to 70-60 with people nearby. Could it be that your CPU is the limiting factor?

I only possess M.2 storage units, with two Crucial T500 2TB models. My temperatures remain within typical ranges for both CPU and GPU.
