Hi, I've updated my CPU from 1500X to 5500. I used different BIOS versions—F31, F40, and F51g—and installed the new chip. Initially it booted with RGB off, then restarted with RGB on. After a while the CPU stopped cooling and fans didn't spin. Power button and reset didn't help; I had to unplug it. My 1500X still works fine now. The current BIOS is F51g, with 2x8GB RAM installed. I've tried swapping RAM and different slots, but need advice on next steps. Anyone experienced with this issue? Should I test the 1500X on F51g BIOS?

Full system specs would help. Another member had a similar issue with a GA-A320. Similar upgrade, 1500 to 3600 or something. Anyway, apparently somewhere in the long line of BIOS revisions, certain PCIe device support had been stripped to facilitate Zen2 (3000-series) support. I think it shook out that they had an M.2 that the Zen2 update either didn't like or didn't support. If this turns out to be the case, the choice is yours, swap M.2 for an SSD, swap for a B450 / B550, or just keep trucking with the 1500X and bide your time. Ryzens are known for being fussy about RAM, but as Gigabyte shows no QVL for your Cezanne processor, no way to know unless you take a chance on presuming it's technically a Vermeer just like any other 5000-series. Hi, I have an M.2 NVMe SSD and considered it might be the issue. I tried without it and it didn’t work. CPU: 1500X, MBO: GA-AB350-Gaming, RAM: 2x HX432C16FB3A, GPU: ROG-STRIX-GTX1050TI-O4G-GAMING, PSU: 750W, Case: Thermaltake M.2, SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500G.

F51G supports all socket-compatible processors up to R9 5950x, confirmed with GA. This includes the R 5500 you chose. For the best results, perform testing using the most compatible RAM only. It's curious that the cooler limits performance.
