You can upgrade to Windows 10 by formatting the SSD containing the OS, keeping the HDD with your media intact. This way, you’ll preserve the data on the second disk while preparing it for the new operating system.

You're absolutely confident about it. The best method to prevent unintended formatting is to detach the SATA cable from the media drive, run the format and Windows install, then reconnect everything properly—making sure to power down the machine before disconnecting or reattaching the drives.

Ensure the HDD disconnects during Windows installation so the bootloader stays on the SSD. If you leave the HDD connected, Windows may install the bootloader onto it. Should your HDD fail or be removed, you won’t be able to boot from the SSD.

Just disconnect the HDD, then format the SSD using the OS, and finally connect a USB with the Windows 10 ISO file.
