Hello! You're looking to transfer the Windows 10 Pro installation from one laptop to another running Windows 10 Home. I’ll explain whether the Pro license will function properly on the new Home system. Generally, the Pro version can be installed on any Windows 10 system, but there may be limitations depending on the hardware and settings. It’s best to check the compatibility and ensure the new machine meets the requirements for a Pro license.

The same Windows license cannot be applied to multiple devices. Using it on more than one machine may result in losing the license.

Each laptop is linked to a license tied to its motherboard. This means activation issues will appear until you supply the original Windows 10 Pro key. You can use ProduKey to save your Windows 10 Pro key for reactivation. Remember, only one device should share the same product key at a time.

The process works similarly for a Windows 7 laptop. Cloning, transferring the drive to a Windows 10 laptop, and upgrading should retain both the Windows 10 and Windows 7 licenses.

@PorkishPig Windows 10 supports Windows 7 keys if they match the edition, though results may vary.

Wow, that's fascinating. I believed the free upgrade feature had ended. Thanks for your support. I was concerned about needing extra licenses, but I'm glad you found a solution without them. Appreciate your assistance! Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.
