Upgrade your system with a fresh, clean look for Windows 11.
The newest StartAllBack version offers a fully centered optional Start Menu, featuring classic context menus similar to Windows 7 for the Start Menu, taskbar icons, volume, network, power settings, and desktop context menu options. I've placed the Recycle Bin in the Quick Access Menu within Explorer, making it quick to access when needed. It can also be removed from the Desktop for a clean, icon-free appearance. Perfect for minimalists or those who prefer viewing wallpapers without distractions! LOL Win11-CleanC.mp4
Stock Windows 11 was well done, especially with the default settings.
The newest update for StartAllBack provides a fully centered optional Start Menu, featuring traditional context menus similar to Windows 7 for various settings such as the taskbar, volume, network, power options, and desktop menu configurations. I didn't express any frustration over Windows hiding desktop icons, as that's a straightforward setting. My goal was to share an alternative approach for a cleaner, more user-friendly desktop experience. It looks like some of you prefer different methods, and I won’t engage in negativity. Not everyone shares the same preference for the default Start Menu or Taskbar settings.
We are just reluctant to install another app we have never heard of, that's it. We also don't want to install another app to do something Windows has support for built in. Argue.. sure So installing an app, going through those settings and stuff is easier than just right clicking on your desktop, mouse over View and then uncheck "Show Desktop icons"? I don't understand why you're so pissed off with me. I'm not trying to argue with you, just told you that there is a built in functionality for that in Windows, A LOT easier than installing a separate app. Do remember your thread title and the video talks about the desktop(which is a significant chunk of your post). And I never complained about the taskbar and start menu customization that you've shown, so stop arguing over that with me. Yes, you do talk about the taskbar and start menu but the only thing you say later is about the desktop:
Accepts the default setup without extra cost. Poor third-party tools often cause issues later when updates arrive and break functionality. This pattern has existed for 15-20 years. Windows visual tweaks were once a trend but, in my view (with a disclaimer for those claiming otherwise), they work fine as they are. If simplicity is the goal, what more could be altered to make your screen look cleaner? I believe the only time I use the start menu is to power off or restart. I rarely interact with icons in the taskbar. Opening programs by pressing the Windows key with my thumb, typing a few letters and pressing enter is much quicker for me—this habit started with Vista. Feel free to personalize it, but be aware online discussions might judge your changes. Not everyone will agree that what you modified looks better or performs better.
I completely understand your point, but my goal was simply to present a different approach—one that offers a cleaner, more intuitive, and powerful user experience instead of the hidden settings menus added in Windows 11, 10, or even older versions. Plus, I’m sure we could enjoy a drink together! We definitely agree on this. Updated December 8, 2021 by SansVarnic. Removed content.
You might face criticism because challenging differing opinions shows a lack of maturity and a limited perspective. Many people assume this forum is just for sharing ideas, which aligns with your approach, and others could benefit from seeing how it works. Also, your comments won’t matter since I don’t have desktop icons to hide, but I can still reach everything easily with a mouse click.
