Consider purchasing Windows 7 from /r/microsoftsoftwareswap and then upgrading to Windows 10. It’s feasible to do this immediately. Since you’re planning to buy the professional version, it offers the same upgrade route as the ultimate edition and costs $5 less. You’ll need to follow the recommended steps to complete the upgrade successfully. A fresh installation might be necessary depending on your setup.

To run Windows 7 Pro, simply enable it using the key from Reddit. With all updates applied, you can either upgrade to Windows 10 manually or reserve a copy. For a clean installation, activate the OS, install updates, then choose manual upgrade or reservation. You can download a Windows 7 ISO from the provided link.

7 is amazing and the upgrade process is just 3 click of a button if you ever plan on doing so.

Win 10 is available for just 12 months, so I’d prefer it over Windows 7. The 5 dollars wouldn’t be worth it if I can’t reinstall it after a few years.

If you need to reinstall Windows 7 in three years due to missing Windows 10 media, consider alternative options like using a virtual machine or exploring open-source alternatives.

Upgrade your Windows 7 license to Windows 10 permanently. If your key becomes invalid, it’s similar to installing Windows 8 with a Windows 7 key.
