I own a motherboard that only supports AM3 processors and DDR3 RAM. I’m curious about learning more through trial and error, but I’m looking to upgrade my current GA78LMTS2 board to something modern and affordable. I have an AMD FX 6300 CPU with 8GB RAM, DDR3, and a Radeon R7 260X GPU. I can’t replace the CPU or RAM, but I’m hoping to upgrade the GPU instead. Do you have any suggestions for a motherboard under 40€ that works with these specs? I also prefer AMD over Intel because they seem to perform better now. My current one has worked well for me.

It's not worth saving up money here. You won't receive a board for 40€ unless you're getting some of the most worn-out am4 boards. I suggest setting aside at least 300€ for an upgrade. For now, stick with what you have. It's a decent mix, and even a reasonably good modern CPU will be limited by the 260x advantage in games.

Check if your CPU matches the requirements for this motherboard. The price you found is reasonable, but make sure it supports your GPU model.

Based on the game you're running, the FX 6300 offers sufficient power for an R7 260X. This graphics card performs similarly to the RX 550. Unless you're playing demanding CPU-intensive titles at low resolutions, you shouldn't encounter any problems. Today's standards make this board quite basic. As @jaslion suggests, consider saving up for a more advanced upgrade.

The device is really problematic. It struggles with anything beyond a Ryzen 1600. I'm not implying your GPU is too powerful for the CPU. I mean you already have a well-rounded setup, and pushing the CPU won't significantly boost your gaming performance in most titles. However, if you switch to a Ryzen 3600, the GPU will likely limit its performance. This isn't a negative point but a reminder that you can upgrade later for much better results.

It's better, just don't. These boards aren't worth the price since you can purchase certain MSI B450 boards for about 90€ that support a 5950x setup if you're willing to go the extra mile (maximum mortar, maximum bazooka, etc.). Of course, you won't use them that way, but those boards are also significantly higher quality.

You can utilize the graphics card on a fresh setup. Which processor are you considering purchasing? Before buying B350 motherboards, verify CPU compatibility on the manufacturer's website. They'll provide a list of supported CPUs and the necessary BIOS version. You might need to upgrade the BIOS to enable later-gen Ryzen processors if they're available.

I haven’t owned a motherboard with Ryzen processors, so I’m not sure what they’re like. For my PC to run smoothly, I just need something that doesn’t overload it with unnecessary stuff. Which Ryzen CPU would work best for me?

The forum member mentioned the B350 Mate is compatible with certain CPUs but noted that some options aren't ideal. Check the link for detailed info.
