Hello! I've been meaning to upgrade my RAM for a while now, seeing how my current " Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 C16 2x8G" kit is fairly old, and is barely enough for my current work and its speed could be better (could also be much worse, DDR4-3200 is the ideal point for the 3700X as far as I've read), and I've been wondering about the best choice for my setup. Here is my current setup: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/29501297 I've been thinking about buying 2 sets of 2x8GB of G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory, both due to the overwhelmingly great reviews and good specs and also due to its visual aesthetic. From what I've gathered, using two sets of identical ram is a-okay in about 99% of situations, so it should work flawlessly, and my motherboard should be compatible with this RAM (though when checking the QVL list i didn't find this exact set, so that has me slightly worried). Don't stress over the QVL list; in the worst case you might need to make some adjustments, but that's all. Regarding the kit, it's average and doesn't offer much extra value. If you're firm on it, a full 32 gig kit could be better. Consider a 3200 cl16-16-16 or a 3600 cl16 model instead. Quick question—do you already own this board and CPU?

Upgrading from 3000MHz isn't necessary; you might be able to overclock it. A 3600MHz setup would be better value.

What do you mean by fairly old? I still know people who used DDR3! And I have some questions: 1. What’s your current workload? 2. Why are you relying on UserBenchmark? Everything else is fine.

I believe the 32GB package is pricier than two 16GB units combined, though I might be mistaken. If correct, the CPU gains from 3600 are minimal, which could be a strategy to secure more RAM now rather than later. Yes, I already have the CPU, motherboard, and 16GB Corsair RAM. That makes sense, as Tofu mentioned similarly, so it might be wise to think about it. Any advice on a 3600 32GB option (or two 16GB kits)? Video editing, deep learning (low RAM usage), and gaming at 1440@144Hz. Userbenchmark was helpful for testing my CPU initially, since I faced unexpected performance issues; I saved it just in case, thinking it’s a good way to display my setup. Thanks for the fast replies!

Same as moving from 3000 to 3200, it doesn't justify the upgrade unless you truly need it. Or stick with the identical setup you already have and allocate similar funds.

Also thought about it; my CPU is already performing well, so adding more RAM probably won’t make much difference but could save some money. Curious if you have any suggestions for DDR4-3600 kits? If I upgraded, I expect this RAM to still last a long time and keep high ratings.

The highest speed it can gain is 3600, while 3200 offers only a slight improvement over 3000, resulting in minimal gains.

Checked some 3600MHz RAM options that might be available at a store connected to a friend. I was hoping for two sticks rather than four because the system would feel less strained, so I focused on kits with two sticks. Every kit is 3600MHz and I could possibly save around 10 euros if I buy any of them. Around 180 euros: first link – roughly 32GB (2x16GB), ~3 euros more than the second option. The second one is about 3 euros higher but has slightly slower timings, though it’s optimized for Ryzen 3000 series CPUs. In terms of visual appeal and performance, the first seems better unless the optimization claim is misleading. The third option is about 160 euros and offers similar speeds; the extra 20 euros is mainly for the RGB lighting. I think the first one with RGB would be the best fit for my ROG STRIX B450-E motherboard, though I’d like to confirm that.
