Hello, I'm checking out an R7 2700X with 8GB 2400MHz/CL16 RAM (PPP link). I'm searching for quicker RAM to purchase during Black Friday. I heard 3200MHz is ideal for my CPU and found some 3200MHz 14CL - B-Die modules. I also noticed Ryzen 5000 performs best with 4000MHz RAM. I intend to upgrade to a Zen4 (possibly 6000?) processor, but I'm worried 3200MHz might be too slow and I don't want another RAM upgrade. Should I opt for 4000MHz RAM or stick with the 3200MHz one (and maybe boost it)? Also, what are the top picks for 4000MHz modules? I’m open to overclocking if I can find good guides, so B-die is fine. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks a lot! P.S. - My motherboard leans toward budget options, so I’m unsure if it can handle 4000MHz RAM. Maybe I’ll buy faster RAM and run it slower, then upgrade to the CPU and a compatible motherboard once Zen 4 arrives. Let me know your thoughts too.

Zen4 will likely run on DDR5 regardless. If the chip fails, you might try boosting it; 4000MHz works but could lead to instability issues.

Opt for shorter intervals over increased frequency. The 3200 @ CL14 performs well with the second generation Ryzen.

Raising the frequency tightens the timing, doesn't it? You could keep it as is or adjust the timing further.
