It relies on the situation, with a good chance of success. How long has it been around? The main issue could arise if the maker changes internal components for the same branded unit. I think buying the same model and specifications is safe, particularly if your computer is recent.
It's fully reliable. The 5700X memory controller works well with DDR4.
Chances are, adding another 2x8 kit will work. But there is a very small chance that you may have stability issues, then you need to mess around with timings and stuff to hopefully fix it. I'm running two 2x8 kits of RAM with different die brands without issues, one set is Samsung B die and other is Micron B die. Back when I had a 2600X I had to adjust the voltages and tune the timings a bit to be stable, it was no biggie. After updating the bios and going to a 5700X it has been stable with no tuning needed, just turned on XMP and things were great.
take the screenshot of the burner and share it here. This will help pick the best IC that works without needing much adjustment. Just confirm your current IC and get an OEM bare PCB with the same part number. It’s a solid method to find specific ICS or match existing sticks, avoiding mismatched ones from random generic parts.
Thanks for the assistance! I appreciate your help. I'm thinking about purchasing the 8x2 if I spot a good deal.
