Hello, I'm planning to upgrade my PC from AM4 to AM5. For the CPU and RAM, I chose the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5GHz and Corsair Vengeance RGB 64GB DDR5 6400MHz CL32 Dual Channel. Regarding the motherboard, I was considering the GIGABYTE X670 AORUS ELITE AX because of its multiple M.2 slots. However, I'm unsure if it offers good stability and BIOS support. I need at least three M.2 slots. All reviews I've seen are from 2023, so what would be a top choice for my setup? My GPU is a PowerColor Radeon RX 7800 XT with 16GB GDDR6 memory. Thank you.
You don't require an X670 board unless you intend to boost this processor's speed, which isn't necessary in 2024. A more affordable B650 would be a better choice, and you could invest the savings into the 7800X3D. I also wonder why you're using 64GB of RAM—do you really need it for video editing, or can you get by with 32GB? That way you'd save money without sacrificing performance.
I already own the CPU and RAM. I need 64GB for 3D modeling and graphic design.
From this data it doesn't seem necessary to move to Zen 4 unless your 7900 or newer is required for performance. Opt for a 5700X3D or 5800X3D and consider a better cooler if you're using the box cooler that came with the 3700X. Make sure your BIOS is up to date, install the latest CPU, and you'll be good.
It's a decent board. However, I wouldn't recommend Gigabyte based on my own experiences.
