You're considering upgrading your system. It's worth checking which part would benefit more: the CPU or the RAM. You mentioned looking at switching to 32GB 3200MHz RAM or upgrading to an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Compare their performance potential to decide what makes the best choice for your setup.

Consider enhancing the CPU before adjusting the RAM speed. Reaching 3000 or 3200MHz with proper settings could significantly boost performance.

Check your components for weaknesses. Are you running low on RAM? Upgrade it. Do your processors frequently reach full capacity? Swap them out. I expect most users notice a noticeable improvement by switching to the model you referenced. Be sure the motherboard is compatible with that CPU.

RAM usually doesn't have a major impact; focus on optimizing what you already have, as suggested by @Fasauceome. A switch from 2600 to 5800X3D will be significant, but only noticeable if you're upgrading for a better GPU—which seems unlikely. @Budget DIY captures the right idea: determine your requirements and upgrade accordingly.

The additional cache in the X3D chip also aids in reducing the lag from the slow RAM... A quicker RAM on the 2600 won’t make much difference, and the 6800 is likely to challenge the 2600 significantly, particularly at lower resolutions. I’d recommend going with the CPU.
