I initially intended to boost my RAM last year but opted to wait until I could afford a new MB+CPU and jump straight to DDR5. Unfortunately, one of my RAM sticks failed this morning, so I’m now sure I need replacements. My current setup includes: Windows 10 Home 64-bit i7-8700K @ 3.7 GHz (not overclocked), Micro Star Z370 SLI plus two units (now one), 8GB Teamgroup DDR4 2400 CL16-16-16-39, GeForce RTX 2080 Super, an HP SSD M700 240GB drive, a 2 TB Seagate ST2000DM006 HDD. I’m seeking two 16GB modules with comparable or lower latency than what I’m using now. I’m targeting a budget around $70, but if a slightly pricier option delivers noticeably better performance, I won’t cut corners. I’m flexible on brand and just want reliable, solid results. I’ve checked Newegg and Amazon and have two models in mind: one from Newegg and another from Amazon. I also found a similar review from last summer that might help.

The RAM you had in your PC before the upgrade only had 4GB of VRAM.

Since Piriform hasn’t revised Speccy’s code in nearly ten years, Speccy displays all cards requiring 8GB of VRAM as needing only 4GB. This inconsistency has persisted for years, yet the developers seem to have given up on fixing it, possibly due to lack of viable monetization options similar to what they achieved with CCleaner.

I often wonder if swapping "speccy" should work, yet I forget to make the change.

I suggest checking out HWInfo64. It offers greater detail than Speccy, though it’s more intricate. If Speccy remained functional, I’d likely still use it today. Personally, it struck the ideal mix of data—sufficient for practical use without being too overwhelming. It’s unfortunate it hasn’t been kept up to date...

G. Skill works nonstop, every single day. The 3200CL16 fits perfectly. I adore G. Skill RAM. There are no issues—over four systems for more than eight years.
