You're considering budget-friendly upgrades for your current setup. A Core-i5 3570 with 12GB DDR3 is a solid base, but you're open to Ryzen options. For a student in Canada, look for deals on Ryzen CPUs, RAM, or motherboards that are often discounted. Check online retailers or local stores for sales—Ryzen 3 or 5 series chips and budget RAM modules tend to be available at lower prices.

For a tight budget, consider the Ryzen 7-2700 which can be purchased around $100 and a suitable motherboard for as low as $50. It also allows upgrading to Ryzen 3 or 4 if compatible. If your family has extra funds, the Ryzen 5-3600 is the top budget option, though you must confirm the motherboard supports the Ryzen 3000 BIOS.

OP, avoid mixing a 2700 with a low-quality mobile GPU. If you're budgeting about 50USD, ensure the board offers solid, consistent power supply—otherwise you risk serious issues. I've seen the consequences firsthand. It's not worth it.
