I wonder what prompted the upgrade? The 14400 isn't a powerful processor, so no noticeable gains expected. Updated by leclod on January 17

To suggest an upgrade, we must identify what's missing from your present setup or what you'd like to gain from the new version.

Absolutely, I understand. It wasn’t explicitly stated, but I’m assuming you’re considering a motherboard upgrade. Since your PC is two months old, I’m not very familiar with the specifics.

It's unclear why an upgrade is needed, but you're looking for one—just for the sake of it... The listed components include a 2.5 GHz 10-core Intel Core i5 processor and an Asus Z790 Wi-Fi 7 ATX motherboard, totaling around $375. Prices cover shipping, taxes, and any available discounts. You're not sure why you need an upgrade, but you just want one... without any reason. I was ready to respond about your post missing the upgrade, but I'll share this here. I've noticed the features on ASUS motherboards and they seem better. The BIOS interface is clearer, especially since I used an ASUS laptop before. Also, XMP doesn't work on my board, and my RAM is at 4800 while it should be 6000. EDIT: My mistake saying it doesn’t work—it's actually clocked at 4800.

A bios is essentially a single-use component. Just copy it and you’re done. Replacing a board is similar to rebuilding a PC from scratch. Also, ASUS laptop bios and desktops behave very differently. It might take around 10 minutes to find the right guide on setting XMP correctly.

Thanks for the update. I understand now about the BIOS details. Regarding the XMP setting, your motherboard still caps at 4800 even when enabled.

According to what I understand, when XMP isn't functioning properly, the system may fail to boot or become unstable. The mention of "max is 4800" suggests a possible configuration issue, but it could also indicate a limitation in the chipset (H610) capping performance at that value. Other boards from different manufacturers seem to handle this differently. Updated on January 17 by leclod.
