Hi there, it's the pandemic and I thought since i haven't got anything interesting, to try to upgrade a latop that I have. It's a Lenovo E49 3464 . It's a well built machine with only problem that the specs render it unusable. It has a Celeron B830 (Sandy Bridge, 32nm, 35W TDP ) which is not soldered and 2GB ddr3 RAM. only has one ram slot. My primary queation among many is that i want to upgrade the processor. i looked up on internet and found a list of processor compatible with the socket. my initial thoughts were hovering above the i7 2640m. but then I realized that it is a 2 core 4 thread cpu. and then i saw a few QM cpu which were 4 core 8 threads but the TDP was 45W. so now my question is is it possible to upgrade the laptop with any of those QM cpu and then under volt it to keep the temp. acceptable. and is this all possible in BIOS as I haven't researched much about BIOS. Also another curious bit is that though the motherboard have only one ram slot there is place right in front of it where i am 99.9% sure another ram slot can be soldered. also there is similar extra place for a mSATA slot. will soldering the connectors to the board work like that. it would be great.

It seems I received the laptop for a very low price. I’m looking to upgrade it so it works better for my needs.

It's a waste of money nowadays, it doesn't add any value.

Are you from India? If so, it might be unnecessary since your shipping cost is significantly higher than the total parts. I’d suggest you budget more or let me know your city for better options.
