Upgrade your i7 3770 with enhanced memory capabilities.
Hello, Your used PC (i7 3770 + GTX 1060 6Gb) is still functioning properly. I don’t have the funds or want to replace it fully. The random scrap RAM sticks total about 14GB (including three 4GB and one 2GB). It originally came with 16GB, but the salvaged RAM kept failing, so I ended up using a 2GB stick. It’s still there and seems fine. I’m looking for more RAM at a minimal cost. It’s DDR3 and upgrading isn’t worth it, but a bit more would help. I’d be happy to browse eBay; prices seem high even for this age. Could you share links to better deals or options? I’m okay with around 2 x 8GB sticks, even if that’s less than what I have now. The motherboard is an HP model—does that matter? Thanks!
I can't access external websites or specific product pages like the one you shared. If you have more details or need help with something else, let me know!
The most affordable option I’ve discovered is this 2x8GB bundle for $23: https://www.ebay.com/itm/335066460876. Another seller offers 8GB sticks at $10 each, though they aren’t necessarily a complete set: https://www.ebay.com/itm/314964726746. That price still seems high to you? EDIT: @Middcore has a stronger search capability than I do.
you're in a bit of a tight spot honestly. The two suggestions above are likely your best bet. RAM is a bit of an interesting animal; going 1 gen back, the modules will definitely be cheaper, but DDR3 is 2 generations behind at this point. So prices have hiked due to little demand and no more production.
Sure, it's a cool supply chain challenge! Appreciate the links and suggestions you shared. I'll reach out to some friends in tech if I need anything. Thanks!
You're asking about how much performance improvement you'd see switching from 1600MHz RAM to a higher-end 2400MHz option. That means comparing speed and potential gains in your system.
RAM featuring impressive performance is currently available. Many believe the investment is justified for personal pride and modest gains in testing scores.
ddr3 is surprisingly affordable. You should purchase it in larger quantities. It doesn't make sense for sellers to test and break it down unless they plan to sell many units, like 10 or 20. Selling several small packages instead of a single large one adds unnecessary effort compared to bulk RAM. The price reflects that. Also, having a single RAM stick shipped with tracking will likely cost more than the product itself.
