You can purchase one 8GB DDR4 2666 stick. It seems to skip XMP settings and operates at standard JDOC speeds. Note: I missed adding a single stick of 8GB alongside the existing one.

I understand this discussion is quite old, but I wanted to note that even with an HP 590 instead of a 690, the board remains compatible (HP 843B). I managed to install two 32GB Crucial DDR4-3200 DIMMs (CT32G4DFD832A.C16FE) on it (BIOS date: 07/27/2022). Despite HP's claims of a 32GB limit, the system actually handles up to 64GB.
