Upgrade your GPU and CPU for better performance.
Hello, I need to improve my graphics card and processor. I currently have an I3 8100 and a GTX 1060 with 3GB of VRAM. I’m considering a setup with an RTX 2060 Super and a Ryzen 5 3600, but I can only afford one. If I choose the Ryzen 5 3600, I’d need a better CPU or a motherboard upgrade later. I think I might be able to afford the other component again soon, but what’s the best choice first? Also, which option would give higher FPS in competitive games if I buy both?
I believe the 2060 would significantly outperform the 1060 in frame rates. I’d upgrade that.
The upcoming Ryzen processors and Nvidia GPUs suggest a shifting landscape. If you intend to use ray tracing, it makes sense to buy the 3600 now (upgrades possible with a x570 board).
I probably won’t rely heavily on ray tracing, maybe sticking to Minecraft and similar games. Still, I’m aiming to improve since I’m experiencing low frame rates on some titles.
I share the view of @ShrimpBrime since the 3600 provides strong results. Great IPC performance, but switching platforms would be more expensive than the 2060 alone. I suggest choosing the 2060 instead, as it won<|pad|> can’t be overly hindered by the 8100.
Thanks for the support! For a strong RTX 2060, consider the RTX 3060 Ti or the newer RTX 4070.
