Upgrade your game from DX12 to DX11 if you need full compatibility.
Hi everyone, I'm wondering if I can "downgrade" from DirectX version 12 to version 11 because I've just installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 and it automatically installed DirectX 12 for me on my system which has a 750 Ti. So far, I've seen some bits of benefits here and there, but overall, it's causing some issues, especially with DirectX hang in BF4. Is there a way that I can go back to DirectX 11 for now or at least force the programs I want to use DX11? Thanks.
All devices using a newer DirectX edition always operate with older DirectX releases. BF4 would normally function in DirectX 12, but from the beginning I lack information about how to override this. If it were available on Steam, I could explain how to enforce a specific DirectX version.
Games follow the API they were built for—Skyrim runs on DX9 on Windows 10, while BF4 will use DX11. There might be another issue with Windows 10 that’s leading to the hang.
With Windows 10, I'm experiencing many driver crashes and stability problems. Even without overclocking, the game won't boot properly. The DX application freezes and I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open Task Manager. To play the game, I need to run it at a significantly lower clock speed—around -221 MHz underclock. For games like DCS, the drivers keep crashing and then recover every few seconds. Is this an issue specific to Windows 10 that can be resolved?
Open properties, go to options -dxlevel (choose the DirectX version for 7-12), for example -dxlevel 90 if you prefer DX9.
Currently, no titles are compatible with DX12... You remain on DX11 platform.
Looks like a driver problem. Not connected to DX12 or Windows 10.
I can see why you're frustrated. Windows 10 seems to be disrupting my G-sync performance. In games, I often experience frame drops reaching 300 and then returning to 144. It feels like G-sync is constantly losing connection.
